In case you want to study medicine at a public university in Austria, you have to pass the admission test MedAT first. You may study medicine at
The admission test MedAT (MedAT-H for Human Medicine and MedAT-Z for Dental Medicine) is the same exam for all universities on the same day. It takes place once a year, usually beginning of July.
Please note that the test (instructions and questions) is in German!
In order to be registered for the admission test MedAT, you have to sign up within 01.03.2019 and 29.03.2019 for MedAT online. You find the online forms for the registration here.

You will receive an e-mail after the registration to the e-mail address you have specified.
With your registration, you will get a seven-digit ID (German: Bearbeitungsnummer). You need this ID for logging in to your account. There you may settle the MedAT fee (German: Kostenbeteiligung) as well as download your personal documents and information.
In order to attend the test, it is required to pay the MedAT fee of EUR 110,-. The fee has to be settled within 01.03.2019 and 29.03.2019.
Please note: Online registration and settlement of the MedAT fee is not possible after the deadline!

In general, applicants for a study place are ranked by their test results. They may be admitted to university if their rank is within the limitation of the study places (see above for the number of students admitted per year at each university) and they meet the necessary admission requirements.
In case you apply for Human Medicine, you have to specify your quota (German: Kontingent) on the online form:
A minimum of 95 % of the available study places for Human Medicine is reserved for applicants of the Austrian and EU quota; a minimum of 75 % is reserved for applicants of the Austrian quota. Applicants of the Non-EU quota may receive a maximum of 5 % of the available study places for Human Medicine. Starting with the admission test for the academic year 2019/20, there are no quotas for Dental Medicine any more.
